WF CARE ASSOCIATION WINS OKC FUNDRAISER

"The deeper we got into the tournament the hotter the action got " stated Bob Whitlow, OKC/Bocce USA Tournament director. On the All-American Hearing Court sponsored by Brandon Sawalich, Franklin -Williamson Human Services team won over Boneyard Boccie Ball Club of Benton creating a tie in points for the division. Being that Southern Illinois Bank had beat Franklin-Williamson earlier, the Bankers won the right to compete in the championship match.

On the Advance Hearing Court sponsored by Steve Sawalich, bocce fans saw two pick-up teams battle for the right to advance to the finals. After seven frames, the West Frankfort Care Association and First Bank of West Frankfort found themselves tied with eight points each. In the final frame, the Care Association won on it's last ball sending them to the finals against Jim Renik's Bankers.   After the coin flip which deciding the court of play and the assignment of the referee, the battle for bragging rites of 2007 OKC/ Bocce USA  event was underway.

In the first frame, Care Association players Bob Ellis and Royce White jumped all over the bankers scoring three points. Not to be out done, teammates Frank Moschino and Mary James responded on the other end with two more. After four frames, The Care Association was up eight to zero. However, the Bankers never quit as Tom Borgra and Ordell Tripp rallied with point frames of two, two and one. With the score showing eight to five, Ellis and White score the final and deciding point for the Care Association making them Champions of the 2007 OCK/Bocce USA J&S Professional Pharmacy sponsored event.

" It was one of the best fundraisers we've had" state Whitlow.  "Were already

looking forward to next year hoping to make it even bigger and better."
